Bath MP Wera Hobhouse visits DRIFT Energy
Bath MP, Wera Hobhouse, recently visited us here at DRIFT Energy to find out more about our new class of mobile, renewable energy and meet the team. We were also delighted to welcome Sarah Mackintosh, Director of Cleantech for UK, who attended with a videographer to capture the visit on film, along with Mat Munro, Investor at Octopus Ventures and Carmen Peacock, Chair of CBI Southwest.

The visit was an opportunity for our local MP and guests to see first-hand how DRIFT Energy translates renewable energy innovation into industrial, economic, and strategic impact, and to consider how this emerging sector could be prioritised within the UK’s energy, industrial, and growth policies. DRIFT represents as a rare intersection of industrial opportunity, climate innovation, and strategic influence - a technology that can be scaled in the UK while positioning the nation as a global leader in clean energy.
After meeting the team and hearing about our progress to date and future roadmap from CEO Ben Medland, Wera was able to view prototype models and design components. The group went on to discuss the role of green hydrogen in the UK energy system and industrial decarbonisation, as well as the challenges around scaling first-of-a-kind, clean maritime and manufacturing technologies.
