Equivalency Stats

How much space does a gigatonne @ 2050 DRIFT fleet take up?

Content below is to help with providing scale and size of DRIFT.

  • The MVY vessel is rated to produce the following:

    • 1.2 MW of rated capacity

    • 70-80% Load Factors

    • 1 MW hydrogen electrolysis plant

    • 2-4 tonnes of green hydrogen storage onboard

    • 350-700 bar

    • >100 tpa per vessel

  • A single vessel is equivalent to (by load factor):

    • 2-3 MW wind turbine

    • 7 MW solar park

A single vessel operating all year is equivalent to (by annual energy produced):

    • 4 GWh of energy

    • 340 tonnes of gasoline

    • 1,200 tonnes of CO2 abatement

    • 1000 UK homes of electricity

    • 8000 SIDS homes of electricity

    • 1000 hydrogen cars = 7.7 million miles of driving

    • 30 hydrogen bus fleet

    • First vessel is £15-18 per kg

    • 10th vessel is <£10 per kg

    • 2030+ vessels are <£6 per kg

    • Target towards £3 per kg at gigayard autonomy

    • 21,000 DRIFT Vessels

For comparison Maersk Line has 700+ vessels in its fleet.

BUT by DWT (i.e. mass of shipping) DRIFT’s gigatonne fleet is only equivalent to 210 Maersk Line ships.

    1/3rd the size of Maersk.

  • $35m at a $100m+ pre-money valuation

$25m is the rough costing for the first boat, but we would probably sell first boat at a loss to ensure we have certain R&D rights to its operations. Plus a 10 year contract for Operations (the routing software for example)
